About us

Jason Po started 8 up Records many moons ago in a small town near St Louis, MO. The label was meant to help smaller bands gain recognition, including Jason's band, The Dead Pawns.  Around 2005 he met a weirdo named Sam on Myspace who was in a punk band near Philadelphia, PA.  They instantly realized they could connect with each other with their odd and off the wall (but fun) personalities, and they became friends quickly.  Sam shared his interest in helping smaller bands, and his own band, AssLunch, at the time. Releases began to happen collaboratively.   Hundreds of burnt cd's were made up of small bands from all over,. Both Jason and Sam paid out of pocket to give all of these out to spread the music as much as possible.  They bombarded the states with their free cd's, handing them out in paper sleeves that they had both made, which included track listings.  The years went on, and they continued their free burnt CD-R hand outs.  In 2008 AssLunch had visited MO to play "Resist" fest, and The Dead Pawns had visited PA to record with AssLunch. In 2011, The Dead Pawns came to PA once again, and did an East Coast Tour with Sam's band at the time, The Unpatriotics (now disbanded).  Vinyl had been put out by Jason numerous times over the years for smaller bands, and Sam began to release International cd comps.
